ANALYTICAL APPLICATIONS WITH MODERN SPECTROSCOPY METHODS

The event program titled “Analytical Applications with Modern Spectroscopy Methods”, planned to be organized at the Science and Technology Application and Research Center (BTM) of İskenderun Technical University (ISTE), aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge on spectroscopic analysis techniques that play a critical role in research and quality control processes.
The training will focus on the theoretical and practical operating principles of modern spectroscopy instruments, including ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry), AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrometry), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), and UV Spectrophotometry. It will also cover sample preparation and analysis methods, data evaluation processes, various scientific and industrial application areas, and current academic research conducted using these instruments.
This program is designed for academicians, researchers, postgraduate students, and industry representatives working in different disciplines such as natural sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, food, health, and materials science. Participants will gain competence in topics such as the basic operating principles of the instruments, sample preparation and method development techniques, calibration procedures, spectral data acquisition, and interpretation. In addition, supporting topics such as statistical evaluation methods in analytical processes, laboratory safety, and industrial application scenarios will also be addressed.
The program aims to contribute to academic R&D projects and to strengthen access to analytical infrastructure for companies operating in the region within the framework of university–industry collaboration.
Training Content:
1. Theoretical Training:
• Fundamental principles of spectroscopy
• Components and operating mechanisms of the instruments
• Scientific and industrial application areas of analytical techniques
• Current academic research and case studies
2. Practical Training:
• Sample and standard preparation processes
• Method development and calibration techniques
• Instrument operation and measurement procedures
• Spectral data interpretation methods
• Statistical analysis techniques
• Occupational health and safety in laboratory environments
Notes:
• Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation at the end of the training.
• Participants will have the opportunity to analyze their own suitable samples using the instruments.
