BIOGRAPHY
Prof. Dr. Tolga DEPCİ was born in 1975 in Izmir. He obtained his PhD degree in Advanced Materials (Mining Engineering) from Middle East Technical University, where he received the Postgraduate Courses Performance Award. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Tolga DEPCİ worked as a Research Assistant at METU Mining Engineering Department from 2004 to 2009. Between 2008 and 2009, he served as a visiting researcher at the University of Utah's Metallurgical Engineering Department in the USA. In 2009, he assumed the position of Assistant Professor at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Department of Mining Engineering. From 2011 to 2013, he worked as a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Utah (USA), and was awarded the title of "Associate Professor" in Türkiye in 2013. In 2014, he began working as an Associate Professor at İnönü University. Prof. Dr. Depci continued his academic career by moving to Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) in 2017, where he has been serving as a Professor since 2018.
Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci has been involved in numerous international projects supported by NATO, the Japanese Empire (JSPS), and the University of Utah. He has also contributed as an executive and researcher in projects supported by TÜBİTAK, BOREN, and various University Scientific Research Directorates. Prof. Dr. Tolga DEPCİ holds 1 joint patent and has received 6 different national and international awards, including the Science Award from the Yurt Madenciliğini Geliştirme Vakfı, the Mehmet Kemal Dedeman Project Competition, and R&D Project Markets. His primary research areas include Rare Metals, Mineral Processing, Chemical Biological Recovery Techniques, Renewable Energy Systems, Materials Engineering, Activated Carbon, Adsorption, and Process Development. He is engaged in completed and ongoing consultancies, industry collaborations, and projects in mining, metallurgy, and energy sectors.
Prof. Dr. Depci has served in various administrative roles at the universities where he has worked. Following his tenure as Vice Rector at İSTE since 2018, he was appointed as the Rector of İskenderun Technical University on September 23, 2020.
He is married and has two children.
