Optical and Stereo Microscope
Brand / Model: Zeiss Axio Imager 2
Description: The Zeiss Axio Imager 2 is an advanced optical imaging system with a magnification range of 50× to 1000×, operating with halogen and fluorescence illumination systems. It is equipped with multiple optical components and filters that enable various contrast techniques, primarily brightfield imaging. The system allows high-resolution and detailed examination of both biological and material samples.
Operating Principle: The instrument features two separate illumination paths: transmitted light (from below) and reflected light (from above). The transmitted light illumination system is used for the examination of transparent or semi-transparent samples. This method is particularly preferred for imaging biological specimens stained with various histochemical or immunohistochemical dyes. The reflected light illumination system is suitable for imaging opaque, non-transparent samples. In this method, light is directed onto the sample surface and is reflected back to the objective depending on the surface topography, color, and brightness characteristics, forming the image in the microscope. This system is widely used for materials science applications. While the optical microscope is primarily used for observational studies, it also enables various qualitative and semi-quantitative analyses.
