The School of Foreign Language at Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) was established on 23rd of April 2015 following the Decree of the Council of Ministers (no: 6640). Our Mission and Vision is as following.
Mission
In addition to elective foundation year English classes, the School of Foreign Languages at ISTE various provides foreign language services such as the Compulsory English 1 and English 2 courses offered at first year during students' undergraduate and associate degrees and elective German and Japanese courses. We strive to provide a quality foreign language education and equip students with language skills that they would need in their carreers and allow them to reach knowledge and information that will be beneficial to their carreers.
Vision
Parallel to the fast changing technologies, the vision of the School of Foreign Language at ISTE includes full integration of learning technologies into teaching processes in an effort to allow students to be able to use technology and language skills in reaching the knowledge and information that they would need for their future careers. In line with this, we aim to increase the physical/infrastructure quality of the learning spaces, the quality of the lecturers teaching in our school, and follow modern ways of teaching foreign languages.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PREPARATORY CLASS (ENGLISH) EDUCATION:
- Follows courses in the main program where the medium of instruction is predominantly English.
- Acquires academic skills such as intensive reading, analyzing the content read, taking notes in English-taught courses, and using the written or spoken content in their own writing and/or presentations.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES:
- Mastering the basic vocabulary and grammar required to reach the B1+ level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Understanding and analyzing English texts or speeches written in clear language that may be encountered in work, school, and daily life.
- Taking effective notes in attended courses and selecting the priority information from these notes.
- Expressing oneself fluently and understandably on topics related to work, school, and daily life.
- Giving short presentations on subjects related to their field of expertise and participating in in-class discussions on these topics.
