Landscape architecture is a planning and design discipline that deals with natural and cultural resources and the physical environment within the framework of aesthetic and scientific principles for human benefit, well-being, safety, health and comfort. This discipline has an education system that includes the subjects of creating space and living environment, supporting biodiversity, land planning, design, management, conservation, restoration and control. Landscape architecture, by participating in physical plans at national, regional, urban and rural scale, ensure that ecologically-based projects are produced in order to protect cultural and natural values and ensure sustainability.

İskenderun Technical University Faculty of Architecture Department of Landscape Architecture has received students for the first time in the 2018-2019 academic year. There is only a bachelor's degree program in our department where foreign dormitory students are educated; The establishment of a graduate program in landscape architecture is still in progress. In the first year of the course plan, basic science courses and some vocational courses are taken. All courses are compulsory for the first 2 years. In the last semester, successful students have the opportunity to complete their education in the companies that have signed a protocol with our university within the scope of the Integration with Business World program. Students have to do a summer internship at the end of the fourth and sixth semesters. One of the four faculty members working in our department is an associate professor and three assistant professors.

Iskenderun Technical University was established with the decision published in the Official Gazette dated April 23, 2015 and numbered 29335. The Department of Landscape Architecture, which is part of the Faculty of Architecture, started education with 12 students in the academic year 2018-2019. 1 Prof., 1 Assoc. Prof., 2 Assist Prof., 1 research assistant and instructors assigned to give lectures with private sector representatives will contribute to the course execution.
Qualification Awarded
As a result of successful completion of the landscape architecture degree programme, the students are awarded a Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture.
Graduation Requirements
In order to obtain a degree in Landscape Architecture, students who successfully complete the course with a total of 240 ECTS credits, and a summer internship of 20 working days in the 4th and 6th semesters will qualify for the Bachelor's Degree.
Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates with a high school diploma are accepted according to the placement result document issued by ÖSYM. The candidate who is entitled to be a student shall have a definite record of the documents determined within the period announced by the university. Candidates who do not make a final registration within the specified time lose their registration right.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Landscape Architects who have completed the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture programme have employment in both the public and private sectors. They can work both in related organisations in the government; Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry -research institutes in the region-, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, General Directorate of Highways, General Directorate of DSI, Universities (in the context of the Department of Construction), municipalities (Recreation, Park and Horticultural Units, and in private sector companies and in landscape offices. Landscape Architects can work as a private sector employee or can work in their own offices by making planning, designing and applications; and also work in the tourism facility.
Quantification and Consideration
The courses of the Landscape Architecture Program differ according to the content and learning outcomes. Written (sometimes oral) exams are necessarily made for each course in each semester. In addition, coursework, project, application assignment, fieldwork, and presentations are evaluated according to the course content. Courses are graded within the scope of Iskenderun Technical University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.
