History |
The Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 1992 within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Mustafa Kemal University. It first started its activities in Iskenderun by accepting students in the 1994-1995 academic year. It started to accept students in the status of Second Education in the 1998-1999 academic year. Mechanical Engineering Department moved to Antakya Tayfur Sökmen Campus in 2000 and continued its education in 2000-2001 there. It started education in its new building in Iskenderun Campus for the year 2008-2009. Our department, which was connected to İskenderun Technical University, which was established by the decision of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazette dated April 23, 2015, continues its studies as the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of İskenderun Technical University. Our department still continues its primary and secondary education programs here.

Admission Requirements |
High school and Vocational School graduates who wish to register to the department, must provide the conditions specified by OSYM (Higher Education Council Measurement, Selection and Placement Center). |
Higher Grade Transition |
Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with master and doctoral studies in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from Mechanical Engineering. |
Graduation Requirements |
A total of 175 credits or 240 ECTS credits course the local area, all have successfully completed at least 2.25 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average, allowing 40 working days and finishing a summer internship, students successfully completing their undergraduate degree are eligible. |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates |
Graduated students of this section; have opportunity to work in about projection and production plan process of every kind of mechanics, heating, cooling and energy transformation systems. In also more other fields that they can work such as machine tool, automotive industry, automation, material science, energy, gas and steam tribunes, reciprocating compressors, nuclear reactors, internal combustion engines, systems of cooling, heating and air conditioning. |
Assessment and Grading |
The midterm and final exams represent 40% and 60% of the final grade. All exams are worth of 100 points. A student obtaining one of the grades (AA, BA, BB, CB, CC, G, and B) are considered successful. In addition, students with CD or DD graded courses are considered successful only if they had a yearly GPA over 2.25 in the given year. To enter exams (midterm or final exams) students must meet following requirements that are specifically outlined in Iskenderun Technical University regulation for vocational and undergraduate education and examination. These requirements are: a) Enrollment for the course in question, b) At least 70% attendance of the course, c) At least 80% attendance of the practices in the course, d) Successfully completing practical projects. Other matters related to learning and exams are given in Iskenderun Technical University regulation for vocational and undergraduate education and examination.
