TURKISH FOLK MUSIC DEPARTMENT
The aim of the Turkish Folk Music Department is to train vocal and instrumental performers who can analyse Turkey's traditional folk music accumulation in terms of continuity, and who can change and develop their perspective towards the future without breaking away from the roots. In this context, one of the most important goals is to integrate the identity of the art it represents with established or common artistic dynamics, to provide academic equipment, to reconcile the national artist identity with global values, to respect ethical values and to represent the art of music of our country on national and international platforms.
Turkish Folk Music Instrument Education Department
In the Department of Instrument Education, it aims to train competent educators, researchers, academics and artists in order to get to know Turkish folk music closely and transfer it to future generations, as well as to continue various academic and artistic activities for this purpose. In this context, it is aimed to create a student profile with a broad perspective by explaining processes such as the change and development of instruments, local instruments, performance and sound characteristics with a historical background.
Educational activities will begin after reaching the sufficient number of academic staff in the Instrument Education Department.
Turkish Folk Music Voice Education Department
In the main art branch, which was established to train voice performers in the field of Turkish folk music, it was aimed to process selected samples from the repertoire of oral works from the repertoire of our traditional music culture according to the local dialect, pronunciation and vocalization techniques in the context of the region. In this direction, the transfer of traditional Turkish folk music oral works to young generation musicians, their survival and their promotion in the international arena are among the main objectives of THM Voice Education Main Art Branch.
After the sufficient number of academic staff is reached in the Department of Voice Education, education and training activities will be started.
