Mission
The aim of the Department of Civil Engineering is to educate students towards the fundamentals of knowledge in order to follow the technological developments; to solve the regional and national problems; to internalize the importance of life-long learning; to be respectful towards the ethical and professional values and to raise useful engineers for their country and nation.
Vision
It is to be a respectable department that develops qualified and leading civil engineers needed in the fields of industry, service, and R&D.
History
Our department was founded in 1993 within Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi. As of 2015, the department continues its operations as Civil Engineering Department of the Iskenderun Technical Universty. There are 8 Proffesor, 2 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors and 9 Research Assistant in the department. Also 5 laboratories of the department are operated actively for applied laboratory classes and scientific research.
Qualification Awarded
The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the bachelor’s degree of Civil Engineering.
Admission Requirements
Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate program, students can apply to graduate programs in Civil Engineering or any other relevant graduate programs.
Graduation Requirements
To obtain their degree, a candidate should have taken and successfully completed all the mandatory as well as elective courses specified in their program of study, collected 240 ECTS, had 2.25 GPA (out of 4.00), and successfully completed their internship(s).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Every subject related to production; building, dam, airport, bridge, road, port etc. training and research related to the planning, projecting, construction and supervision of service and industrial structures are included in the study areas of the Department of Civil Engineering. With the Department of Civil Engineering, engineers and scientists will be trained in sufficient capacity to meet all kinds of construction needs of public institutions and organizations as well as private and legal entities in full, accurate, current, timely and economical manner.
Assessment and Grading
There are 1 midterm and 1 final exam. However, assignments, projects, laboratory applications can also be used to determine the overall grade average.
Program Educational Objectives (PEO)
The Program Educational Objectives (PEO) of our department are to educate engineers who;
PEO1-Work in line with technological, social, global, and ethical conditions in professional life and constantly improve themselves,
PEO2-Contribute to the institutions they work for as an effective leader or a harmonious team member and successfully take part in interdisciplinary studies,
PEO3-Have successful careers in the fields needed (R&D, production, business, and management) and the postgraduate studies required by industry, public, and universities.
Vocational Training in Business (VTB)
Vocational Training in Business (VTB) is a program that offers full-time working experience in accordance with their own vision and goals just before graduation to those who prefer the Business World among our successful students who are enrolled in undergraduate and associate degree programs and who do not have lower courses.
