PROGRAM PRESENTATION
Electrical Program located under the Department of Electricity and Energy within Iskenderun Technical University, Iskenderun Vocational School; It trains qualified personnel to respond to the demands and developments of the sector in matters such as the production, transmission and distribution of electricity, factory maintenance and control, the working systems of electrical machines and motors, the project design of electrical facilities, the promotion, operation and troubleshooting of all electrically operated systems. According to the 2025 YKS results of the program, the base score was 295,58 and the ceiling score was 412,31.
The courses of the program have been prepared in order to achieve this goal, considering its compatibility with the developing technology and its validity in the market, as well as compatibility in the transition from associate education to undergraduate education. In order to carry out practical work, an electrical laboratory and internship opportunities were provided in the field. Electrical and electrical equipment is used extensively in all areas of our life, causing the creation of new demands on the basis of industry or individual and the need for work power to meet these demands. Our program trains technical staff with titles of Electrical Technicians who have knowledge and skills to meet these demands.
Within the associate degree program of the electrical program, the duration of the training is 2 years and spread to 4 semesters. The admission condition is to get the required score from the university exam made by ÖSYM. Each student is obliged to undertake at least 30 working days (except Saturdays and Sundays) internship work at the end of the 2nd grade. At the end of the training period consisting of 2 years and 4 semesters, the student has to be successful in total 120 ECTS.

6. They will be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and diagrams.
7. They will be able to interpret the characteristics of electrical and electronic circuit elements, bar graphs, critical-path networks, assembly diagrams, circuits, and schematic diagrams.
8. They will utilize theoretical and practical knowledge related to the electrical network.
9. They can solve technical problems that may occur in power generation plants and transmission-distribution networks, and they know and apply the legal and technical regulations related to electrical energy.
10. They can operate control and monitoring circuits with PLC devices and design microprocessor-based systems.
11. They can operate electric motor drive systems and power electronics circuits.
12. They communicate effectively in Turkish, both orally and in writing; they possess a level of foreign language proficiency that allows them to follow innovations in their field.
13. In addition, they have a sense of professional and ethical responsibility and take responsibility by working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Assesment and Grading
The program utilizes a wide variety of assessment methods, including midterm exams, assignments, projects, practical work, and a final exam. Assessment methods may include written exams, true/false tests, short-answer tests, matching tests, oral exams, assignments, projects, designs, portfolios, and performance tasks (Practical/Laboratory/Workshop/Fieldwork/Seminar/Presentation/Final Project/Thesis). This section is detailed on the individual course description page for each course. All exams and other activities are graded out of 100 points. The final grade is calculated by taking 40% of midterm work and 60% of the final exam. However, a final exam grade below 30 will result in an FF grade. Students who receive one of the following grades in a course are considered to have passed: (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (G), and (B). Letter grades (G), (K), (M), and (B) are not considered in the average calculation. Students must fulfill the following conditions, as defined in the relevant article of the Iskenderun Technical University Associate and Undergraduate Teaching and Examination Regulations, in order to be eligible for examination rights for a course: a) Registration for the course, b) Attending 70% of theoretical lectures, c) Attending 80% of practical sessions, d) Successfully completing practical sessions and assigned projects. Other matters related to teaching and examinations are specified in the Iskenderun Technical University Associate and Undergraduate Teaching and Examination Regulations. In Iskenderun Technical University Undergraduate Programs, the conversion from a 100-point grading system to a letter grade system is done based on the table below.
Score Letter Grade Coefficient Explanation
90-100 AA 4.00 Successful
80-89 BA 3.50 Successful
70-79 BB 3.00 Successful
65-69 CB 2.50 Successful
60-64 CC 2.00 Successful
55-59 DC 1.50 Failing*
50-54 DD 1.00 Failing*
40-49 FD 0.50 Failing
39 and below FF 0.00 Failing -
Students who receive one of these grades are considered successful in the relevant course(s) if their GPA is 2.00 or higher in the relevant academic year. G: Successful in non-credit courses, internships, industry-based learning, professional adaptation programs and practice; K: Unsuccessful in non-credit courses, internships, industry-based learning, professional adaptation programs and practice; M: Exempt; B: Successful.

Job opportunities
Our students who graduate from this program can work at the factories to perform assembly or maintenance jobs as well as working as qualified workers in factories. In addition, our students are trained to prepare the lighting and power plant project and install the installation of the workplaces in the house.

Undergraduate Programs to be Entered by DGS Exam
Our graduates can transfer to the undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering, and all other Electric Tecnology related areas described in DGS exam guidelines.
