Short History
Undergraduate education started in the academic year of 2008-2009 by taking 41 students with the OSYM (The Student Selection and Placement Center) Additional Placement under the name of the "Civil Air Transport Management" department on 22.10.2008. Evening education program was opened with additional placement in the 2010-2011 academic year. It was affiliated to Iskenderun Technical University, which was established under the Law No. 6640, published in the Legal Gazette No. 29335 dated 23.04.2015. The name of the Civil Air Transport Management department was changed as "Aviation Management" with the decision of the Council of Higher Education as of 07.10.2015. The School of Civil Aviation, affiliated to Iskenderun Technical University, was changed into the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics with the Presidential decision dated 18.04.2019 and numbered 968.
Program profile
In the Aviation Management Department, the required aviation courses (Airline Management, Dangerous Goods Regulations, Flight Performance, Operation and Performance, Meteorology, Aviation Safety and Security) and management courses that will add information to the managerial skills of our students (Business Management, Marketing Principles, Customer Relations, Economics) are given. Foreign language is very important in the international arena in the air transport industry. With this awareness, a total of 910 hours of English education is given during the four-year education period in Aviation Management Department, and a total of 112 hours of German / Japanese lessons for 4 semesters starting from the third year in order to enable students to learn a second foreign language. Theoretical and applied trainings related to the department are given in Iskenderun Technical University Central Campus. Students have to do an domestic or international internship for 30 working days. From the Department of Aviation Management, 25 students in 2014 and 21 students in 2015 did internships in various aviation companies in Europe within the scope of the Erasmus internship program. The department also has an education agreement with Unıversitatea Politehnica Din Bucuresti in Romania within the scope of Erasmus+.
ISTE Aviation Management Program Educational Objectives (PEA);
PEA 1 - To train individuals who learn and use sustainability principles as well as technical knowledge.
PEA 2 - To train individuals who learn and use the use of innovative technologies to ensure sustainability in aviation.
PEA 3 - To train individuals who develop innovative solutions in the aviation sector.
PEA 4 - To train individuals who work collaboratively by gaining international cooperation and responsibility awareness to find solutions to problems in the aviation sector.
PEA 5 - To train individuals who have leadership and communication skills in the field of aviation.
