Underwater Technology Programme
This programme has the strongest infrastructure among the Vocational Schools providing education in Underwater Technologies in Türkiye at İskenderun Technical University Vocational School of Maritime Technologies. The first class industrial diving training required for underwater welding is given in the first stage in the Diving Tower with a depth of 6 m, which is located only in our Vocational School in Türkiye.
Diving tower and underwater welding application
Within the scope of application studies, Maritime and Advanced Diving Trainings were carried out in the last semester by staying at sea (on a 7/24) for about 2 weeks with the 27.5 m long RV ISTE I Research Ship owned by our University. ISTE II Research and Application Boat owned by our University is used for daily dives within the scope of diving pieces of training.
Research ship and boat owned by Iskenderun Technical University.
Offshore training
Within the scope of the training programme, Pressure Chamber Operator Trainings are also given in the Pressure Room in our Vocational School.
They complete the basic welding courses given within the scope of the Underwater Technology Programme with the simulator and applied welding training at Iskenderun Technical University Welding Centre of Excellence.
Students who graduate from our Underwater Technology programme will be able to perform dry and wet welding using various welding technologies in water environments, know diving procedures, master welding technology, perform welding effectively in narrow spaces and difficult conditions, know diving systems and have the ability to use these systems underwater, have the knowledge of seamanship and maritime knowledge that may be required within the scope of the first class industrial diver profession, the ability to use and maintain the tools and equipment used in underwater work, in port construction and repairs, in the construction of bridge piers, They are graduated as first class industrial divers specialised in welding technology, experienced and equipped, capable of performing construction, maintenance and repair of underwater and above water structures such as construction of channel pools, repairs of ships and submarines, construction and repair of connection points of underwater pipelines, cage systems, communication lines, jetties, drilling platforms and related equipment, survey work, wreck removal, salvage and cutting operations in wrecks and capable of calibrating all materials and equipment for welding and diving.
