MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

OBJECTIVES

Our ultimate objective is to educate mechanical engineering graduates who are; prepared and equipped with the required professional knowledge as an engineer in both industry and academia, well oriented and agreed for the fundamentals of mechanical engineering, ability for learning new applications, at both research and implementation level, from an objective perspective, aptitude for working and collaborating within a team by socially-developed and effective communication skills, well-aware of requirements of a globally competitive modern world and showing a high-level of responsibility in terms of professional ethics.

SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

High school and Vocational School graduates who wish to register to the department, must provide the conditions specified by OSYM (Higher Education Council Measurement, Selection and Placement Center).

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

The courses taken before are accepted if the credit and the syllabus are similar.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND REGULATIONS

A total of 175 credits or 240 ECTS credits course the local area, all have successfully completed at least 2.25 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average, allowing 40 working days and finishing a summer internship, students successfully completing their undergraduate degree are eligible.

PROFILE OF THE PROGRAMME

Mechanical Engineering Department, conducts a training plan to educate students. The program includes required courses related to the engineering profession and the general ethics. In addition to required courses the curriculum offered students the chance to choose elective courses according to their preferences. Thus, the graduates of the department can identify and solve the engineering problems individually or in groups.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES

GRADUATES WHO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THIS PROGRAM;

1) Engineering graduates with sufficient theoretical and practical background for a successful profession and with application skills of fundamental scientific knowledge in the engineering practice

2) Mechanical Engineering graduates with skills and professional background in describing, formulating, modeling and analyzing the engineering problem, with a consideration for appropriate analytical solutions in all necessary situations

3) Engineering graduates with the necessary technical, academic and practical knowledge and application confidence in the design and assessment of machines or mechanical systems or industrial processes with considerations of productivity, feasibility and environmental and social aspects.

4) Engineering graduates with the practice of selecting and using appropriate technical and engineering tools in engineering problems, and ability of effective usage of information science technologies

5) Ability of designing and conducting experiments, conduction data acquisition and analysis and making conclusions

6) Ability of identifying the potential resources for information or knowledge regarding a given engineering issue

7) Engineering graduates with motivation to life-long learning and having known significance of continuous education beyond undergraduate studies for science and technology

8) Engineering graduates who are aware of the importance of safety and healthiness in the project management, workshop environment as well as related legal issues

9) Ability for effective oral and official communication skills in Turkish Language and, at minimum, one foreign language

10) Engineering graduates with well-structured responsibilities in profession and ethics

11) to take responsibilities encountered in applications related to the field and to solve complex and unpredictable problems as an individual and a team member.

OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES OF GRADUATES

Graduated students of this section; have opportunity to work in about projection and production plan process of every kind of mechanics, heating, cooling and energy transformation systems. In also more other fields that they can work such as machine tool, automotive industry, automation, material science, energy, gas and steam tribunes, reciprocating compressors, nuclear reactors, internal combustion engines, systems of cooling, heating and air conditioning.

ACCESS TO FURTHER STUDIES

Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with master and doctoral studies in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from Mechanical Engineering.
