OVERALL STRATEGIES
1. Internationalization is one of the most important policies for the Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) for both education and research areas. We believe that cooperation with foreign universities through mobility programmes improves the quality of the education and research facilities conducted in universities. ISTE focuses on increasing student and staff mobility and promotes active participation in international research and educational projects.
ISTE International Relations Office identifies international cooperation policy in order to encourage institutional cooperation on issues related to education and ensure mutual recognition between countries. Interaction between local and foreign students is aimed to increase by providing various projects under the guidance of the office. Students and staff are actively encouraged to participate in exchange programmes.
While ISTE determines geographical areas, the universities from program and partner countries primarily preferred. In order to make appropriate university choices, the professions of our departments are taken account as a big factor.
ISTE supports quality and quantity studies for mobility activities in each level such as first, second and third cycles. Although first cycle students are the primary task of the Erasmus Office, the office guides to students for Exchange programmes in other cycle levels. Number of mobility students are set into balanced proportions depending on the number of students of each department.
2. ISTE International Relations Office is established for the purpose of internationalization through mobility programmes for students and academic staff.
International Relational Office coordinates general framework of Erasmus exchange program. The office arranges and follows agreements related to Erasmus, research projects, scientific and cultural meetings and conferences and improvement of Erasmus program. At the faculty level, each department has an Erasmus Coordinator, who is an academic staff, who is responsible for contacting with other instutions for inter-institutional agreements, ensuring full recognition for satisfactorily completed activities of study mobility and traineeships after mobility. Erasmus Coordinator of the university manages and supports all Department Coordinators.
Erasmus Organizational Structure will be replaced depending academic development during the process of internationalization. The main objective of Iskenderun Technical University is to increase the mobility of students and staff, international culture and knowledge sharing between universities and the discovery of new ideas and projects.
3. We expect a highly positive effect on the modernisation quality and capacity of our institution by participating in the Erasmus+ Programme.
Priority 1:
We believe that engaging in international study/training programmes is necessary for helping our institution to develop its modernisation strategy. We aim to attract more students and researchers from programme and partner countries to study and work in our institution.
Priority 2:
As a technical university, we focus on offering quality education/training relevant to the demand of the region which is dominated by the iron and steel industries. We expect, Erasmus + progamme to help our institution to establish collaborative partnerships with similar HEIs to develop a more flexible, innovative and sustainable curriculum.
Priority 3:
The aim of ISTE Erasmus Program is to increase the education quality and quantity in international level, to found quality international cooperations for students and staff with exchange programmes and international projects and to gain self-confidence. Our university aims to improve the international recognition and to work students and staff with different experts. Living such an experience before all students to business life to live is the development of the win in terms of their different perspectives and self-confidence.
Priority 4:
As the rapidly changing information, innovation and entrepreneurship having rising importance nowadays, we expect our students and staff to participate in innovative projects through Erasmus+ Program.
Priority 5:
ISTE, expects to provide more funding for international research and projects while increasing the number of participants to mobility programmes.
