From the beginning of the 19th century, atmospheric, terrestrial and aquatic environments have been influenced by antropogenic activities as a result of rapid industrilization. Our mission is to investigate the interaction between atmospheric, terrestrial and aquatic environments, and to examine biological, chemical and physical interactions among them at local, national and global scale. Today, impacts of global warming can be seen in many areas such as economic, social, cultural etc. Therefore, monitoring the impact of global warming is one of our major research interest. In addition, water quality status determination of water resources (surface and ground waters) by monitöring studies is also important issue of our departmant. We work with local and national managers in the preparation of necessary regulations and laws in order to minimise the negative impacts of polluters on water resources. Our primary mission is to serve our nation and humanity as a research facility by advancing the frontiers of science with the help of independent, objective, component academic personel. From this mission in mind, studies conducted as İskenderun Technical University can influence and trigger the national and global scale scientific knowledge and contribute to economic, technologic and social development. As Water Resources Management and Organization Department, one of the primary goal is becoming a pioneer in the scientific field at both national and global scale with the help of our researches, and to come to the level of competitiveness with global research institutes and centers. Our primary vision is to serve our university, our region and our contry by our innovative researches.
Our departmant is consist of 1 professor, 1 associate professor and 1 research assistant who are expert in their fields.
Since 2015, our department regularly has participated and contributed to the meetings coordinated by the Hatay Governor's Office as "Hatay Provincial Water Management Coordination Member". In addition, some of the scientific research conducted at our department are listed below.
-Investigation of environmental impact of polluters using metaanalysis approach,
-Modeling of sustainable use of living resources including biological, economic and social factors of aquatic areas by ecosystem-based management modeling,
- Investigation of spatiotemporal variations in the water qualty of Orontes River,
-Evaluation of microplastic pollution status of Orontes River,
-Investigation of water polltion level at Mersin, İskenderun, Antalya Bays using bioindicator species,
-Determination of impact of Göksu River on the Norteastern Mediterranean Sea using satelite
