Computer Engineering
Computer Engineering is a branch of engineering that works on the structure, design, development, use and security of information systems. This engineering branch aims to train engineers who can produce algorithmic solutions by thinking analytically and logically in the face of problems encountered in related fields. Computer Engineering is a very attractive profession in terms of job opportunities. Some of the job titles that computer engineers can work for are as follows:

The main objectives of the courses offered in our department are as follows:
- To gain the ability to apply mathematics, science and engineering
- To raise individuals who have the ability to improve themselves according to the innovations brought by the age in the field of computer engineering
- To gain analysis and design skills in information systems applications
- To gain the ability to use the techniques and modern tools of computer engineering
- To train engineers who know software development processes and manage processes
Integration with the Business World Project
Our final year students have the opportunity to find a job and work before they graduate, within the scope of the Integration with the Business World (IME) project, which was implemented for the first time at our university in 2017.
Within the scope of IME, 61 of our students have worked in various companies in their last year.
36% of our students who graduated by benefiting from IME continue to work at the company where they worked within the scope of IME.

- Iskenderun Technical University's main campus is in the city center.
- The dormitory buildings that are opened to the service of our students are right next to the main campus.
- In our central campus, we also have sports facilities where our students can play football, basketball, volleyball and tennis.
- Our students exhibit their projects in robotics races and graduation project exhibitions organized in our department with the knowledge they have gained.
- Our final year students have the chance to enter the business world before they graduate, within the scope of the Integration with the Business World (IDE) project.
- In line with our technological vision, for the first time in our country, the "Technology Literacy" course (compulsory) has been placed in the first year curriculum of all departments of our university.
Our Laboratories
Our department has 1 robotics laboratory, 3 computer laboratories (central lab), 1 digital design laboratory, 1 virtual reality laboratory, and 1 biomedical laboratory where related courses are taught practically.

Program Outcomes (PO):
- PO-1:
- Problem Analysis: Graduates will be able to identify, formulate, and analyze complex problems in computer engineering. In doing so, they will apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering fundamentals, while also considering the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
- PO-2:
- Engineering Design: Graduates will demonstrate the ability to design creative solutions for complex engineering problems. They will apply these solutions to the design of systems, processes, devices, or products that meet specified needs, taking into account realistic constraints and future requirements.
- PO-3:
- Use of Modern Tools and Techniques: Graduates will be able to select and effectively use modern engineering and computational tools in analyzing and solving complex engineering problems. They will also be aware of the limitations of the techniques and tools they employ.
- PO-4:
- Research and Inquiry: Graduates will possess the ability to employ appropriate research methods to investigate new theories, technologies, and applications in the field of computer engineering. This includes the ability to review scientific literature, design and conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze results.
- PO-5:
- Global Impact of Engineering Practices: Graduates will have knowledge of the societal, health, safety, economic, environmental, and sustainability impacts of engineering practices within the framework of the UN SDGs. They will also develop awareness of the legal implications of engineering solutions.
- PO-6:
- Ethical Conduct: Graduates will understand and adhere to the professional code of ethics in engineering. They will demonstrate awareness of ethical responsibilities, impartiality, inclusiveness, and non-discriminatory practices.
- PO-7:
- Individual and Teamwork: Graduates will be able to work effectively both individually and as part of intra- and interdisciplinary teams in various work settings, including face-to-face, remote, and hybrid environments.
- PO-8:
- Communication Skills: Graduates will be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. They will demonstrate leadership and project management skills in technology-focused projects and develop innovation and entrepreneurship competencies, taking into account the diversity of their target audience (e.g., educational background, language, profession).
- PO-9:
- Project Management: Graduates will have knowledge of project management practices and economic feasibility analysis as applied in professional environments. They will also develop awareness of entrepreneurship and innovation.
- PO-10:
- Lifelong Learning: Graduates will be proactive in tracking technological advancements and acquiring new knowledge and skills. They will continuously adapt and foster professional development throughout their careers.
- PO-11:
- Engineering Knowledge: Graduates will possess in-depth knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences, fundamental engineering principles, computational methods, and core areas of computer engineering (such as algorithm design, data structures, software development, operating systems, and computer networks). They will apply this knowledge effectively to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems in computer science and engineering.
Program Educational Objectives (PEO):
The mission of the Computer Engineering Department at İskenderun Technical University (İSTE) is to educate engineers who are well-equipped with professional and academic knowledge, possess a solid foundation in computer engineering fundamentals, can learn and apply new technologies at both research and practical levels, are socially competent with strong communication skills, capable of teamwork and collaboration, aware of the global competitive demands of the modern world, and demonstrate high ethical responsibility.
Accordingly, the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) are defined as follows:
- PEO-1: To provide a world-class engineering education supported by original research, fostering graduates with a strong engineering foundation and contemporary technological knowledge.
- PEO-2: To cultivate computer engineers who continuously update their knowledge by following scientific and technological developments, are responsive to national and global issues, and demonstrate professional, social, and ethical responsibility along with effective oral and written communication skills.
- PEO-3: To educate computer engineers who can pursue successful careers in both industrial and academic institutions at national and international levels.
