ANOTHER SUCCESS FOR THE ISTE FAMILY
Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Computer Engineering Dr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kadir Tohma from the Department of Computer Engineering and Assist. Assist. Dr. Fatih Özkan Alkurt managed to become members of COST Working Groups funded by the European Union (EU).
Dr. Kadir Tohma from the Department of Computer Engineering and Dr. Fatih Özkan Alkurt from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences have been selected as members of EU-funded COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Working Groups. This achievement also grants them eligibility to apply for research funding through TÜBİTAK’s 2515-COST Action Members R&D Support Program. Under this program, projects up to 2,400,000 TL (excluding overheads) can receive funding for up to 36 months.
Dr. Kadir Tohma will contribute to the COST Action Universality, Diversity, and Idiosyncrasy in Language Technology (CA21167-UniDive), focusing on the following working groups:
- WG1: Corpus Annotation
- WG3: Multilingual and Cross-Lingual Language Technology
- WG4: Quantifying and Promoting Diversity
Meanwhile, Dr. Fatih Özkan Alkurt will participate in the COST Action The Metamaterial Formalism Approach to Recognize Cancer (CA23125-TETRA) and contribute to the following working groups:
- WG2: Mathematical Modelling of Highly Disordered Anisotropic Structures
- WG3: Determining the Biological Properties of Highly Disordered Materials
- WG5: Communications, Outreach, and Exploitation
ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci congratulated both academics on their accomplishments, stating, “Achieving success not only nationally but also on an international level fills us with immense pride.
