Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci issued a message on the occasion of Victory Day on August 30. Rector Depci emphasized that “the Victory of August 30, won under the leadership of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is a symbol for our nation’s past, present, and future, representing a spirit of struggle unparalleled in the history of the world, for the independence and future of the Turkish Nation.” He continued his message as follows:
“We are filled with the joy, pride, and excitement of celebrating the 102nd anniversary of the Victory of August 30, a heroic epic symbolizing the independence and freedom of the Glorious Turkish Nation, which has achieved many victories throughout its history. This special day, a symbol of patriotism and the sacrifices made for it, is one of the turning points where our nation unconditionally proclaimed its sovereignty to the entire world and crowned its struggle with victory. Moreover, the steps we have taken in recent years under the leadership of our President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with our indigenous and national initiatives, have been indelibly inscribed in the annals of the Turkish Nation, alongside this great victory. In this context, the Turkish Nation's conquest of Anatolia, which began with the Battle of Malazgirt, was crowned with our glorious history, and all foreign powers dreaming of these lands were met with decisive results at the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief on August 30. The torch of independence, ignited with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s determination in his words 'Independence or Death,' will never be extinguished, and we will be the guardians of this victory, etched in history with golden letters.
On the path to the founding of our Republic, I commemorate with mercy, gratitude, and respect our cherished heroes, especially the Commander-in-Chief of our War of Independence, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades-in-arms, who gifted us this meaningful and important victory, and I congratulate our Nation and our Country on Victory Day, August 30.”
