RECTOR DEPCİ'S MESSAGE ON 15 JULY DEMOCRACY AND NATIONAL UNITY DAY
Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci published a message on the occasion of 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day.
Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, Rector of Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE), issued a statement in commemoration of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Emphasizing his "remembrance and gratitude for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for democracy and national unity on the anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt, and paying tribute to our heroic veterans," Rector Depci expressed the following in his statement:
"The night of July 15, under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stands as one of the most significant and heroic epics in our illustrious history. Our nation's resistance against the treacherous coup plotters who threatened our democracy has etched itself into our collective memory. The FETO/PDY terrorist organization and its supporters, engaged in treasonous activities aiming to undermine our state, national unity, constitutional order, and the will of our people, were part of a sinister plan. This nefarious plot was thwarted by the heroic saga written by our Noble Turkish Nation, who once again declared to the world that it would never compromise its independence and its commitment to its homeland, nation, state, democracy, and constitutional order.
On the night of the coup attempt, the unparalleled courage demonstrated by the Turkish Nation and our heroic security forces united to thwart the coup, marking our second war of independence and reaffirming to the world that we will never, ever relinquish our freedom and independence. With these sentiments and thoughts, while inscribing this significant day into our illustrious history filled with heroism, we will always honour and remember July 15th with pride and dignity, ensuring that future generations never forget that night. As we commemorate with mercy and gratitude all our democracy martyrs, especially Senior Master Sergeant Ömer Halisdemir, who became the symbol of resistance and changed the course of history with their sacrifices, I wish our esteemed veterans a healthy and peaceful life.
While extending my respect and affection to every member of our noble nation who stood as a shield against the treacherous coup plotters across our beautiful country and prevented this grand betrayal, I pray for the Almighty to always assist our country and our nation."
