RECTOR DEPCİ'S MESSAGE ON 19 MAY COMMEMORATION OF ATATURK, YOUTH AND SPORTS HOLIDAY

Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci published a message on the occasion of Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Rector Depci stated that "The 105th anniversary of 19 May, the first step on the road to the War of Independence and the Great Victory, is celebrated with enthusiasm in unity and solidarity at ISTE as well as all over the country":
"Today, we continue to carry the torch ignited by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's arrival in Samsun, declaring 'The integrity of the nation, the independence of the people is in danger,' with the same belief and love that prioritizes the independence and patriotism of the Turkish nation above all else. Atatürk, who initiated the struggle for liberation on May 19, 1919, for a brighter future, stood tall and unwavering despite the challenging conditions and never lost his spirit of struggle, even in the face of those who said 'you cannot.' The revered Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, setting an example for the whole world, dedicated this blessed day to the youth, once again declaring them as the protectors and elevators of the Republic. Being together with the youth and contributing to the education processes that shape their future is an honor for us."
"May 19th, the day when the doors to societal development, peace and tranquillity, progress, democratization, and modernization are opened, is a day for us to remember, understand, and cherish the legacy of Atatürk and his values more than ever. Throughout the week, we celebrated Youth Week at ISTE by organizing various activities for our young people. Tonight and on Monday, in collaboration with the Mayor of Iskenderun, Mr. Mehmet Dönmez, we will organize concerts for the people of Iskenderun, especially for our youth. Together, we will celebrate and perpetuate this beautiful day with the spirit of the War of Independence."
