ROBOT TEAMMATE CONFERENCE AT ISTE
A conference titled "Robot Teammate", focusing on artificial intelligence and robot technologies aimed at female entrepreneurship, was organized at Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE).
The event, held on Friday, May 24th, at the Orange Hall of the ISTE Tourism Faculty, was hosted by the ISTE Women Entrepreneurs Community under the leadership of Associate Professor Ayetmis Depci, the Head of the Tourism Guidance Department. The conference was attended by ISTE Vice-Rector Professor Meltem Eken, Yeşim Ugutmen, Chair of the TOBB Hatay Women Entrepreneurs Board, representatives from the Iskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, student representatives of the ISTE Women Entrepreneurs Community, as well as academic and administrative staff and numerous students.
The event began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by an opening speech by Yeşim Ugutmen, Chair of the TOBB Hatay Women Entrepreneurs Board. She said, "I wish this important and valuable conference, where we come together to enhance women's entrepreneurial spirit, make a difference, and become visible, will be beneficial to all of us, and I thank everyone who took their valuable time to be here."
The conference, organized by the ISTE Women Entrepreneurs Community, attracted significant interest, particularly from students. The keynote speaker was Canan Alkın, the founder of the Robot Employment Agency. Alkın started her presentation with an introductory video showing robots in the employment field, discussing how artificial intelligence and robots in production sites and factories would particularly meet labour needs and almost eliminate work accidents. She shared valuable information on AI and robot technologies with the participants, stating, "Almost every sector worldwide is being reshaped by robots, bringing many conveniences and increasing comfort for both employees and employers." Alkın also spoke about potential job opportunities for students and those who wish to be part of this change, answering questions from the attendees.
Associate Professor Aytemis Depci, starting her speech by thanking everyone for participating in the Robot Teammate event organized by the Women Entrepreneurs Community, said, "We established our community to guide all female students at İskenderun Technical University who are open to self-improvement and want to become entrepreneurs, to realize their entrepreneurial and income-generating skills with the support of technology. With the valuable support of our academics and the TOBB Hatay Women Entrepreneurs Board, we aim to guide students who want to realize their entrepreneurial projects in their dreams by providing them with basic knowledge, consultancy, and training. Today, Canan Alkın, the founder of the Robot Employment Agency, shared valuable information with us on artificial intelligence and robot technologies. I thank her again for visiting our university."
The event concluded with Associate Professor Aytemis Depci presenting a certificate of appreciation to Canan Alkın, followed by the taking of commemorative photos.
In his evaluation of the event, ISTE Rector Professor Tolga Depci said, "First of all, I would like to thank our valuable stakeholders, the TOBB Hatay Women Entrepreneurs Board, the Iskenderun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and their representatives, with whom I am pleased to work. The world is changing, and this change deeply affects every aspect of life. We are working to train individuals who follow and lead this change rather than just observe it. We provide opportunities for our students to gain professional experience by hosting valuable businesspeople and managers who are experts in their fields at ISTE. I would like to express my gratitude to Canan Alkın, who shared her valuable knowledge on robot technology related to female entrepreneurship with the ISTE Family. I hope our students always keep their horizons wide open.
