A conference was held at İskenderun Technical University (ISTE) as part of the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) University Meetings. The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (MBDF) at ISTE organized the conference titled “The Importance and Role of Engineering Today and in the Future” on Tuesday, May 21, in the Red Hall. The event drew participation from academic and administrative staff, as well as students.
Within the framework of university meetings, a conference was held to introduce and present TANAP. Beginning his speech by expressing gratitude to ISTE and its Rector, Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, for opening their doors and providing opportunities, Taşdemir touched upon key points in the academic field of engineering and insights into future professional life for students studying in this field. He also provided important information about national and international trends and approaches in the profession. The conference, which attracted great interest by offering students the opportunity to gain valuable insights into engineering and professional experiences, concluded with the answering of students' questions.
As part of the TANAP University Meetings, ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci expressed his gratitude to Alper Taşdemir, whom they hosted at ISTE to share his professional and academic knowledge with our students. Depci stated, “We are going through a period of significant advancements in the field of engineering in Turkey. One of the most important indicators of this is the strides we are making in the defence industry as a country. Additionally, we are discovering new reserve areas for oil and natural gas along our borders. At this point, we are striving to make the best use of evolving technology. As the ISTE Family, we are also training the engineers of the future at our university by opening new laboratories and application areas in line with these goals.”
