Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) hosted high school students within the scope of the trip organised by Altınözü Municipality Youth Council.
Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) hosted high school students as part of a tour organized by the Youth Council of Altinozu Municipality. A group of 90 students participated in the tour, which began at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8th. Led by members of the Youth Council of Altinozu Municipality, the students visited ISTE's main campus, thus also exploring the university environment.
Students eager to experience the university atmosphere first-hand were guided through the İSTE Central Library, the Science and Technology Application and Research Centre (BTM), and the Vocational Training Centre (MESEM) where they were briefed by faculty members. During the tour aimed at showcasing ISTE, the campus environment, and facilities, students were granted access to faculty buildings and laboratories. This enabled them to witness the opportunities and privileges offered by the university.
The tour, which included 11th and 12th grade students from a total of 8 different schools, commenced at the ISTE Central Library, renowned for its extensive resources and knowledge. Deputy Director of the Library Branch, Müslüm Yurtseven, introduced the various purpose-built rooms within the library and highlighted numerous opportunities and facilities available for students. The next stop for students with aspirations of university life was the Science and Technology Application and Research Center (BTM) and the Earthquake Laboratory. ISTE faculty members guided the students through the laboratories and rooms within the centre, conducting experiments with the available equipment and discussing the practical educational opportunities offered by ISTE. During the tour, students visited the ISTE Talent Valley Continuous Education Centre (MESEM) as the final destination. MESEM, affiliated with the university but also catering to the public, aims to provide vocational training in various sectors to produce qualified professionals. Students couldn't hide their amazement when they witnessed the opportunities offered by MESEM, which not only serves the university but also the public at large.
Expressing his delight in hosting the valuable students who will be future university attendees at ISTE, Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, the Rector of ISTE, stated, "We are committed to leading a generation with a solid foundation. We would love to see these students, whose eyes shine with the dream of becoming university students, as part of the ISTE family in the future. We extend our gratitude to Altinozu Municipality for organizing the tour and to the efforts of the Youth Council in providing guidance to the youth."
Students, who had their souvenir photos taken at various locations on the central campus, expressed their gratitude to ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci for providing them with the opportunity to get to know the university up close before leaving the campus.
