Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) proudly announces the acceptance of its latest project titled "New Approaches to the Fret Systems of Our Traditional Instrument Baglama", amidst the numerous projects accepted in various fields throughout the year. Led by Assistant Professor Mustafa Dağdeviren, a faculty member at the Mustafa Yazıcı State Conservatory, the project has been granted support by the TUBITAK 1002 Rapid Support Program. Dr. Dağdeviren will be accompanied by Prof. Dr. Levent Cenk Kumruoğlu, Acting Director of the Mustafa Yazıcı State Conservatory, and a researcher from Sivas Cumhuriyet University in this endeavor.
Within the scope of the project, innovative and composite materials will be integrated into the fret system of the traditional baglama without compromising its traditional form. This is aimed at achieving higher quality and longer-lasting performance in the sounds produced by the baglama. Additionally, a sound generation mechanism, which will be used for the first time in Türkiye to measure baglama performance, will be developed as part of the project.
ISTE Rector, Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, congratulated Assistant Prof. Mustafa Dağdeviren, whose project was accepted, saying, "As a technical university primarily focused on formal and natural sciences, we take pride in success across all disciplines within our institution. Today, we are delighted to announce the success of our colleague from Mustafa Yazıcı State Conservatory. I extend my best wishes and congratulations to Dr. Mustafa Dağdeviren, the lead researcher of the project, and all faculty members involved in the project."
