Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) Rector, Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, attended the concert prepared in partnership between ISTE and Iskenderun Municipality along with the ISTE family. The event, held at 8:00 PM on Monday, April 22, at Iskenderun Municipality Cultural Centre, was attended quite densely.
The conductorship of the concert, where the works of one of the most important figures of Turkish folk music, Aşık Veysel, were performed, was undertaken by Prof. Servet Yaşar, a faculty member at ISTE. Addressing the master who said, "I go, my saz (instrument) stays; may my friends remember me" the response was: "Friends did not forget you."
Expressing his gratitude to the students of the group and Conductor Prof. Servet Yaşar, ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, in his evaluation, said, "Tonight, with Iskenderun Mayor Mehmet Dönmez, we signed our first joint venture with the concert organized in memory of the master artist Aşık Veysel. We remembered the great poet Aşık Veysel at the concert, which is the beginning of the beautiful things we will do. We remember the master, who accompanied us with the songs of his heart and saz to our 'long, narrow road,' with love and longing."
