1001 PROJECTS CONTINUE TO GROW IN ISTE
The project led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Metin Yazıcı, a faculty member of the Department of Aquaculture at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Technology of Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE), has been awarded funding by the TUBITAK 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.
The project led by Assistant Professor Metin Yazıcı, a faculty member of the Department of Aquaculture at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Technology of Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE), has been awarded funding by the TUBITAK 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program. Assistant Professor Yazıcı aims to ensure food supply security in aquaculture and offer innovative solutions within the 'One Health' approach through his project titled "Natural Solutions with 'One Health' Approach in Sustainable Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Production: Probiotic and Synbiotic Applications."
The accepted project also targets reducing antibiotic use in the sector by utilizing these feed additives with bioactive properties, introducing innovative, eco-friendly domestic and commercial products to the aquaculture industry. Within the framework of the One Health approach, the prepared project aims to reduce economic losses due to diseases in aquaculture, preserve ecosystem and human health.
As part of the accepted 1001 Project of the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Technology, Assistant Professor Yazıcı will be accompanied by Prof. Dr. Yavuz Mazlum and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Naz, faculty members of the Department of Aquaculture at Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE). Researchers from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, and Istanbul University will also be stakeholders in the project.
Expressing his pride and honour at once again receiving approval for project support, Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, the Rector of ISTE, stated, "First and foremost, I would like to thank Assistant Professor Metin Yazıcı and all the stakeholders who will accompany him in the project, and I wish them continued success." Emphasizing the importance of teamwork, Prof. Dr. Depci continued, "Especially after the devastating earthquake on February 6th, it is evident that our region, like in all areas, needs development and progress in scientific research and education. ISTE plays a significant role in meeting this need. We are determined to continue working and producing in this regard because we are very eager to achieve success for our country."
