Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) Maritime Technologies Vocational School Underwater Technology Program, led by Assistant Professor Servet Ahmet Doğdu, has been awarded a grant by the TUBITAK 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program. Assistant Professor Doğdu's project titled "Establishment and Monitoring of a DNA Barcoding and Morphology-Based Reference Library for Foreign Fish Species in Turkish Marine Waters" aims to create a database where foreign fish species found in our country's waters can be accurately and rapidly tracked using DNA barcoding and morphological methods to create species identification keys. This database is intended to serve as an important source of data for keeping species under control and, if necessary, taking management measures. Within the scope of the first accepted 1001 Project of the Maritime Technologies Vocational School, Assistant Professor Doğdu will be accompanied by research associates, Professor Dr. Funda Turan and Professor Dr. Cemal Turan from the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Technology, Fisheries Engineering Department, and Professor Dr. Yakup Kutlu from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Computer Engineering Department.
ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci expressed his happiness for achieving another proud success as the ISTE Family and said, “First of all, I congratulate Assistant Professor Servet Ahmet Doğdu and other colleagues involved in the project, and wish them continued success. We have seen a significant increase in both the number of applications and the number of accepted projects in TUBITAK projects. We are paving the way with our actions, and everyone whose heart beats with ISTE is walking on this bright path. I thank everyone who contributed to this success and pray for their continued success”.
