ISTE IS GOING TO ESTABLISH THE FIRST WELDING VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IN TÜRKİYE
Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) is adding to its ventures in the field of welding by opening the Welding Vocational School that will be established in Iskenderun Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ).
Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) is adding to its ventures in the field of welding by opening the Welding Vocational School. Within the framework of the protocol signed in Iskenderun OIZ, Iskenderun OIZ undertakes the allocation of the necessary buildings for the Vocational School. Iskenderun Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, OSB Board Chairman Ayhan Tosyalı, OSB Board Chairman Vice President Osman Gözükara, OSB Board Member Mustafa Kahraman, Regional Director Ahmet Dokgöz, ISTE Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Suha Orçun Mert, ISTE Iskenderun OSB Vocational School Director Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Hakan Demir, ISTE Secretary General Yahya Kılıç, and ISTE Deputy Secretary General Yunus Soylu attended the signing ceremony held on Tuesday, March 19th. The Iskenderun OIZ Welding Vocational School, which was planned by our university in collaboration with Iskenderun OIZ and established with the great support of Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar -President of the Higher Education Council (YÖK)-, will offer programs in Welding Technology, Industrial Mold Making, and Casting.
Since taking office as rector, Rector Depci has personally worked on the ISTE Welding Technologies Centre of Excellence and the Welding Vocational School, in collaboration with Assoc. Dr. Ersin Bahçeci. Through these initiatives, ISTE will contribute to meeting the increasing demand for skilled welders in the metal and machinery sectors in parallel with the development of our country's manufacturing industry, as well as to the creation of new welding recipes that the related markets require.
ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci expressed his gratitude to YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Iskenderun Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, Iskenderun OIZ Board Chairman Ayhan Tosyalı, and OIZ Board Members for their support, in particular for the allocation of buildings, for believing in the Iskenderun OIZ Welding Vocational School, which carries the distinction of being the first of its kind in Türkiye. Prof. Dr. Depci said, "As ISTE, we are honoured to have our stakeholders accompany us in the visionary steps we take. Our Iskenderun Governor, Mr. Murat Sefa Demiryürek, is always our supporter. We will open the Welding Vocational School Specifically to address the deficiency in the welding field, which is the most needed in the industry for our province, and generally for our country and the world. We are determined to make Iskenderun Technical University one of the best technical universities, and we will achieve this together with Hatay. Today, we have taken a very important step towards the training of technicians with superior knowledge and success who will work in the field of welding. Thanks to this step, we will make a significant contribution to meeting the need for experienced skilled workers in welding in the region and our country."
