ANOTHER PRIDE FOR ISTE
The project led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hakan Demir, a faculty member of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE), has been awarded support by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.
In addition to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hakan Demir, the principal investigator of the project, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa İnci, also a faculty member of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at ISTE, will participate as a researcher in the accepted project. With the successful approval of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demir's project titled "Applied Analysis of Detection and Imaging of Power Quality Problems with Deep Learning Method," the rapid increase in the number of TUBITAK projects carried out at ISTE continues. As part of the accepted 1001 Project, researchers from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Çukurova University, and Adıyaman University will also collaborate with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Demir.
This project aims to find functions such as amplitude measurement of a signal, detection of voltage sag/swell, main harmonic analysis, subharmonic analysis, total harmonic distortion (THD) amount, and phase information with a deep learning-based method. It will provide a rapid, practical, and innovative solution for the detection and classification of power quality problems in electrical signals. Thus, the aim is to develop a cost-effective and more functional original approach by reducing the use of power quality analysers or expensive oscilloscopes.
ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci congratulated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hakan Demir and all faculty members who will be involved in the project, stating, "I am very happy and proud of the consecutive acceptance news of TUBITAK Projects. The achievements we gain in our scientific community should be considered as the sprouting of the seeds of belief and determination we have sown at ISTE. I always say that such successes are achieved with the team spirit, and thank God, ISTE family has this spirit. I wish ease and success to my colleagues and stakeholders whose projects are supported, and I hope their paths remain open".
