Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) organized various programs in the context of the 109th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs Day. The program, held on Monday, March 18th, at the Orange Hall of ISTE Central Campus, was hosted by ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci and his wife Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aytemis Depci. Iskenderun Governor M. Sefa Demiryürek, Coordinating Governors Ceyhun Denli, Miyase Demirkoparan, and Şafak Karaca, Deputy Commander of the 39th Commando Brigade and Martyr Ahmet Tor Commando Company Commander Colonel Cumhur Pıçakçı, Naval Soldier Training Regiment Commander Colonel Ümmet Tosun, District Police Chief Nevzat Güneş, protocol members, and guests attended the program.
Starting with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, the program continued with a musical performance titled "Savaş O An Kazanıldı," conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Dağdeviren from ISTE Mustafa Yazıcı State Conservatory (MYSC) Orchestra. The MYSC Orchestra, consisting of violins, flutes, percussion instruments, double bass, bağlama, clarinets, cellos, and bassoons, performed various pieces from different regions of Turkey such as "Eledim Eledim," "Hey Onbeşli Onbeşli," "Babamdır," "Ağıt," "Gerizler Başı," "Çanakkale Türküsü," "Başımı Alıp Çıksam," "Vay Mehmet," and made history by accompanying Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk singing the song "Bir Fırtına Tuttu Bizi," supported by artificial intelligence. The MYSC Orchestra received great admiration from the audience and was applauded standing.
A part of the activities held on Monday, March 18th, took place at 12:30 in the Blue Hall. ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Meltem Eken and Prof. Dr. Suha Orçun Mert, academic and administrative staff, and students attended the program where students spoke about the significance and importance of the Çanakkale Victory Day, which is a heroic epic of the Turkish nation. Theatre performances, documentary presentations, poetry readings, and folk music performances were held. Additionally, our university hosted an iftar dinner for the families of martyrs and veterans.
"On the 109th Anniversary of our Çanakkale Victory, which is the creation of an epic, I extend my heartfelt congratulations," said ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci. "On this precious day, I remember all our dear martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland, especially our Supreme Commander Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with mercy and gratitude. We are together at ISTE to uphold the heritage of our homeland won with the spirit of Çanakkale, to keep this spirit alive, and to sustain it for generations to come. I would like to thank the Mustafa Yazıcı State Conservatory Orchestra and our Conductor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Dağdeviren, who worked tirelessly and provided us with emotional moments, for this evening".
