Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci continues to invest in the future by organizing ISTE campuses through a participatory, ecological, and sustainable approach. In this context, on Monday, March 11th, Rector Depci met with members of the Faculty of Architecture Urban Design and Landscape Commission and the Technical Directorate of Construction Works to discuss the plans for the sports island. The sports island, designed considering the natural and built components of the campus and stakeholders, aims to create a natural healthy living space while balancing life-usage in the central campus. The design approach takes into account the pond located on the central campus and the bird species inhabiting its natural habitat, as well as the climatic comfort conditions of the sports areas. The socio-cultural values of all stakeholders, from ages 7 to 70, who will use the campus, are also considered.
ISTE Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Depci expressed his gratitude to the academic and administrative staff involved in the design of the sports island, stating, "Since assuming the position at the Rector’s Office, we have built every area and building as it should be, and we continue to do so. In existing areas, we make adjustments to maximize benefits. Our goal in making adjustments while considering the needs of users is to transform ISTE into a place where both our students and staff always want to be. With our team spirit and determination, I have no doubt that we will achieve our goal".
