iSTE’s new International Relations Office is operational
The opening ceremony of iSTE’s new International Relations Office (IRO) took place with the participation of İlker ASTARCI -the Director of the Turkish National Agency-, Professor Türkay DERELİ -the president of iSTE-, valued members of the Hatay Foundation, and the international students at iSTE.
In his speech, Mr. ASTARCI noted that iSTE (iskenderun Technical University) is one of the universities in Turkey which uses their budget effectively and underlined that iSTE has used almost 100 % of the allocated budget in the previous year. Mr. ASTARCI also complimented the new office for offering a social space for student and staff use. In his briefing, the IRO coordinator Dr. Ali BOSTANCIOĞLU draw attention to the performance of the IRO in recent years and added that there has been a 40 % increase in iSTE’s current budget for 2019 project budget (105.000,00 Euros) when compared to the first project budget in 2017 (75.000,00 Euros). Dr. BOSTANCIOĞLU also noted that the number of interinstitutional agreements increased from 11 to 24 during the time he served as a coordinator and announced that the goal for next year’s project is to fully (100 %) use of the allocated budget for student and staff exchanges. Following Dr. BOSTANCIOĞLU’s briefing, Professor DERELİ and Mr. ASTARCI together with protocol members planted trees and wished good luck to IRO staff in their endeavours.
The new IRO is located in an open space, integrated into nature, next to Faculty of Naval Architecture and Maritime. The office is open during office hours and will serve students and staff who wish to be informed about international opportunities provided at iSTE.
