Prof. Dr. Mehmet DURUEL, who was appointed as the Rector of Iskenderun Technical University (ISTE) by the grace of President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN on December 21, 2024, has issued a message on the occasion of the New Year. Expressing his joy in embracing the new year with fresh hope and enthusiasm after bidding farewell to another year filled with both joy and sorrow, Rector DURUEL conveyed the following in his message:
“It is a great honour and source of pride for me to begin the new year as the Rector of Iskenderun Technical University, appointed with the approval of our esteemed President, Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN. Serving my country, my state, and my nation in this capacity fills me with immense gratitude. I am committed to exerting my utmost efforts not only in the new year but throughout my tenure to fulfil the duties and responsibilities entrusted to me by this esteemed position.
Every new year offers individuals the opportunity for fresh starts and new possibilities. It is imperative that we seize these opportunities wisely to shape our paths forward. As one of the institutions entrusted with educating the youth who will shape the future of our society, universities will continue to advance under the guidance of science and technology, driving local and national development. In 2025, our university will persist in contributing to the vision of the 'Century of Türkiye,' achieving remarkable milestones guided by our mission of growth and progress. I firmly believe and trust that the ISTE family will work with unwavering dedication and determination towards these goals.
In this spirit, I extend my heartfelt wishes that 2025 brings peace, harmony, and prosperity to our nation, our esteemed people, and all of humanity. I sincerely hope that the atrocities in Palestine, along with the protracted conflicts in the Middle East, and the world’s broader shared challenges, will find resolution in this new year, marking a new beginning. With these thoughts, I wish the ISTE family, our nation, and all humanity a happy and prosperous New Year.”
