Professor Cemal Turan from the Faculty of Marine Science and Technology at Iskenderun Technical University got second place in Turkey in a competition organized by the Chamber of Marine Commerce of Istanbul, Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea regions (IMEAK).

The award ceremony of the inaugural Sailor Nation, Sailor Country Idea & Project competition organized in order to spark original and creative ideas took place in the conference hall of Piri Reis University with the attendance of Adil Karaismailoglu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.
During the ceremony attended by Tamer Kiran, CEO of the Chamber of Marine Commerce of Istanbul, Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea regions (IMEAK); Salih Zeki Çakır, Chairman of the Chamber of Marine Commerce; Professor Oral Erdoğan, President of Piri Reis University and many leaders in the sector, Professor Cemal Turan received his award from Tamer Kıran.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu delivered a speech at the ceremony and said, ‘’It is the wish of all of us that we get to the place that we deserve in the international maritime business by assessing the rich potential our country has in the seas. Let us not forget that Republic of Turkey will grow and strengthen according to the attention given to seas and maritime business. Congratulations to all of the candidates awarded in this meaningful competition.’’

Professor Cemal Turan from the Faculty of Marine Science and Technology at Iskenderun Technical University, who got second place in Turkey in the inaugural Sailor Nation, Sailor Country Idea & Project competition said they were happy to speak of ISTE with so much pride and success in this extremely important inaugural competition for Turkish maritime business. Turan went on saying, ‘’I believe that we, as ISTE, will continue to succeed together in many more important projects for Turkish maritime business. I would like to thank, once again, to the President of İskenderun Technical University, Professor Türkay Dereli, who was with us academically during all of our studies.’’
